Astrology is not a scientific discipline and cannot answer every question. Its results should therefore be approached with caution, especially in forecasting, which deals with tendencies and probabilities rather than certainties. Despite these limitations, predictive techniques provide valuable insight when used with discernment. The main methods used in predictive astrology include:

• Transits: the comparison between the natal chart and the actual positions of the planets at a given moment. This method highlights the influences active at that time.
• Solar Return: the chart calculated for the exact moment when the Sun returns to its natal position. It describes the general themes of a year from one birthday to the next.
• Lunar Return: based on the same principle as the solar return, but applied to the Moon, providing insights for a shorter period of about one month.
• Secondary Progressions: based on the principle that one day after birth corresponds to one year of life. For example, the progressed chart at age 40 for a person born on June 1, 1980 corresponds to the chart of July 11, 1980 (same time and place).
• Symbolic Directions: based on a symbolic equivalence in which each year of life corresponds to a one-degree shift for all planets in the natal chart.
• Solar Arc Directions: similar to symbolic directions, but based on the actual movement of the Sun, slightly less or more than one degree depending on the date of birth.
• Primary Directions: based on the rotation of the celestial sphere and the movement of the angles. This method requires very precise birth data.
• Tertiary Directions: a less common method in which one day corresponds to one month of life.

Many other techniques exist, such as converse directions, profections, or evolutionary methods, but they are less widely used.
