Astrology: Interpreting Planetary Aspects

In this series of articles listed below, each of the ten planets is analyzed in detail, along with topics such as physical appearance, career, sports and leisure, and one's relationship with money. Other articles address the crucial subject of astrological aspects. Indeed, depending on the nature of the aspects formed by the planets in a birth chart, their behavior can change dramatically, as their natural qualities or innate strengths may turn into challenges to overcome, or vice versa.

The interpretation of these aspects is illustrated with examples drawn from the natal charts of well-known personalities. The meanings of the planets involved are also recalled, along with the importance of their combination.

Aspects between the slow-moving planets, except for those linking Jupiter and Saturn, which symbolize the process of social integration, are not interpreted here, as they belong to collective influences rather than the individual chart.

The favorable aspects are the trine, sextile, and the conjunction when it is not afflicted by other planets. The dynamic or tense aspects are the square and the opposition, and sometimes the conjunction when it is under discordant influence.

These correspondences also apply to minor aspects such as the semisextile, semisquare, sesquisquare, quintile, and biquintile, though with less intensity. The quincunx, however, holds a special place: combining the principles of the square and the sextile, it expresses a unique blend of harmony and tension.
