Analysis of Elizabeth Taylor's astrological chart

Astrology at the Service of Character Analysis

Daily news regularly puts the spotlight on all sorts of famous people. Although we are not fond of juicy information, we inevitably have an idea about a given political figure, a movie star, a Royal Highness, or a skilled sportsman.

Those well-known faces draw our interest and seem familiar to us, because we watch their successes or their setbacks day by day.

Astrology may also be considered as an interesting filter to better define their personality, and to guess whether the events they experience are confirmed by their planets' activities. Astrology does not reveal everything, of course, but using the dominants and other peculiarities of the natal chart, we can see whether the astrological portrait matches the collective image or offers unsuspected additional nuances.

After Jimi Hendrix and Margot Robbie, here is an article about the legendary star Elizabeth Taylor.

A Quintessential Pisces, an Object of Fantasies

title=

Regarding the immense star with violet eyes, there is much to say, as her astrological chart is filled with complex aspects.

First of all, it should be noted that Elizabeth Taylor is a typical Pisces, with this sign being prominent in her chart. However, traditionally, this does not align very well with her Sagittarius Ascendant. The two signs are in a square relationship, even though both are under the rulership of Jupiter, the planet that governs Sagittarius and remains the secondary ruler of Pisces following the discovery of Neptune.

Sagittarius is exuberant, extroverted, fiery, and daring, while Pisces are secretive, introverted, devoted, and sensitive.

Despite these significant differences, both signs signify openness—with Sagittarius being about the love for expansion and adventure, and Pisces being about boundlessness.

Movie lovers all remember Elizabeth Taylor's early appearances when she was still a child. Indeed, her mother, who was an actress herself, did everything for her daughter to become famous. Coming from a wealthy family, she was raised to master disciplines believed to be useful for shining: horse riding, dancing, and singing, starting from the age of three. Liz was only ten when she became widely recognized due to the movie "Lassie Come Home" directed by Fred M. Wilcox in 1943, an adaptation of a famous novel by Eric Knight.

Soon, young Elizabeth was signed under the powerful MGM, which also intended to capitalize on her initial success. The company allowed her to continue her studies remotely, while the future star felt isolated from peers of her age.

She would later write in her biography that she felt as though her childhood was stolen. Thus, we already see an expression of a very Piscean disposition, for better or worse: the ability to selflessly immerse oneself in others' fantasies, sacrificing for them, no matter the cause.

In her chart, Mars, the Sun, and Mercury, in Pisces, are closely conjunct, but the aspect is severely challenged by other planets, as we will see.

Mercury and Neptune in Mutual Reception for High Aspirations

We should look at the trio of these fast planets as a whole, but especially Mercury, which is on the same degree as the Sun, for it's the one pulling the strings.

Mercury is opposed to Neptune, with both planets in mutual reception. Mercury rules Virgo and faces Neptune, which rules Pisces. This detail indicates that the two celestial bodies collaborate in a complementary fashion, despite it being a tense aspect.

However, there are still risks of confusion in communication or even deception. Someone born under such an aspect goes through life following their instinct, allowing themselves to be carried by the atmosphere and their daily feelings.

In doing so, returns to reality are not easy to endure. However, thanks to the mutual reception, the discordance finds a way to be overcome. Elizabeth Taylor likely learned early on how to master her ever-changing imagination and the whispers from within, retaining the best parts of her dreams.

The Moon and Pluto for Powerful Resilience

Another aspect in mutual reception that's just as crucial in her astrological chart is the Moon in Scorpio, trine with Pluto in Cancer. The former is in Plutonian territory, while the latter is in the sign of her natal Moon.

From the start, her health was very fragile and weakened her. She even nearly died multiple times, experiencing the Plutonian worlds, those of the phoenix rising from its ashes.

She also tragically lost her third husband, Mike Todd, in an accident. However, despite various harrowing trials, the star always landed on her feet.

She overcame back pain due to scoliosis, pneumonia, difficult childbirths, heart issues, and many other troubles resulting from her excesses (which we'll touch on).

Regardless, this Pluto and Scorpio Moon enabled her to tap into unexpected inner reserves, though it didn't shield her from extreme and emotionally intense situations.

A Woman Prone to Unreasonable Infatuations

With Venus in exile in Aries, conjunct Uranus and square to Pluto, Elizabeth Taylor's romantic life, in any case, couldn't have been peaceful.

From a young age, the actress began her first liaisons in a fleeting, Uranian manner. In total, she married eight times to seven different men. Among them, the general public mainly recalls her passionate relationship with Richard Burton.

They met on the set of Cleopatra, an epic historical film over three hours long shot in 1963 and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz. Burton immediately appeared to her as the one who could complete her. She wanted him, he wanted her, regardless of the consequences. This is the perfect expression of the Venus-Uranus duo against the backdrop of Aries and in poor aspect.

Cleopatra became the movie of all excesses and scandals. Despite the never-ending budget overruns, it made history due to the formation of this legendary couple. Unconcerned by public opinion, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton captivated audiences. He showered her with jewels, which she adored, but their arguments were equally famous. They would divorce, remarry, and then ultimately divorce one last time.

Even if Burton was probably her most significant passion, the actress remained under the influence of Uranus her entire life. She multiplied marriages, even if it wasn't the best idea in the world given her birth aspect.

The perfect Moon-Jupiter square, very strong in her chart, suggests she struggled to align her emotions with a conventional social life. Regardless of the excesses, the blunders, she had to follow her instinct, what her sensitivity dictated. This aspect also explains her tumultuous romantic life, full of extremes.

Jupiter, Luck, and... Excesses

In her chart, Jupiter, the ruler, is in Leo and in the 8th house. The planet is also part of three configurations in her personality: a Fire trine connecting the Sagittarius Ascendant, the Uranus-Venus duo in Aries, and, as we just saw, a square to the Moon in Scorpio.

It's certain that this Jupiter, one of the dominant features of her chart, was powerful and beneficial, despite its excesses (the Moon). It favored her social rise and her wealth (the 8th house).

Famous since childhood, Elizabeth Taylor seamlessly transitioned from child roles to adult seductress roles, with no lulls in her career.

She starred in many blockbuster films and acted alongside the leading male stars of the era: apart from Richard Burton, there were Burt Lancaster, Rock Hudson, Kirk Douglas, Montgomery Clift, Paul Newman, and James Dean. Such a prestigious lineup, and it's impossible to list them all given their number.

She holds the record for the highest actress paycheck of her time, earning one million dollars in 1963 for Cleopatra (which would equate to ten million in 2023).

Moreover, the star set no limits concerning her personal pleasures, such as jewelry (a passion), furs, and haute couture.

Lastly, it's worth noting that she owned an impressive collection of statues, having won the Oscar for Best Actress multiple times.

Today, despite her passing on March 23, 2011, she remains immensely popular and is one of Hollywood's legends.

Undeniable Generosity

Elizabeth Taylor was far from selfish. Sensitive to injustices and wealthy yet generous, the actress lived up to the reputation of her sun sign, Pisces, and her Jupiterian strengths by supporting causes close to her heart.

She actively participated in the fight against AIDS, a scourge whose devastating effects she witnessed among several of her close friends.

Typical Pisces individuals are indeed known for their compassion.

In summary, it's not surprising that, given such a fate, the star was born with such a remarkably potent astrological chart.

To add an anecdote, almost as an anomaly or singularity in this extraordinary chart, Saturn in her natal chart plays a discreet role. Apart from a bi-quintile to Neptune, a collective planet, and a semi-sextile to Mars, it forms no major aspects with the other planets in the chart.

Tradition dictates that an isolated planet expresses its full strength, without limitation. In its secondary domicile in Aquarius and in the 2nd house, perhaps we could interpret the beneficial action of Saturnian perseverance on her fortune? For Saturn, without discordance, the friend of time, builds and consolidates the domain in which it resides.
