Analysis of Michael Douglas' astrological chart

Daily news regularly puts the spotlight on all sorts of famous people. Although we are not fond of juicy information, we inevitably have an idea about a given political figure, a movie star, a Royal Highness, or a skilled sportsman.

Those well-known faces draw our interest and seem familiar to us, because we watch their successes or their setbacks day by day.

Astrology may also be considered as an interesting filter to better define their personality, and to guess whether the events they experience are confirmed by their planets' activities. Astrology does not reveal everything, of course, but using the dominants and other peculiarities of the natal chart, we can see whether the astrological portrait matches the collective image or offers unsuspected additional nuances.

After Martin Scorsese and Cindy Crawford, here is an article about the charming Michael Douglas.

Focus Astro celebrity: Michael Douglas

A feat! While his father is nowadays considered as the last Hollywood giant, Michael Douglas managed to build up an equally impressive career. He may owe his achievement to a blend of unfailing seduction and bright intelligence.

In his horoscope, the sign of Libra is outstandingly highlighted by four planets, more exactly, two powerful conjunctions. Let us begin with the Sun-Neptune pair, which by itself straight away points to Douglas' artistic dispositions. However, this aspect is involved in a T-square comprising the Moon in Capricorn and Saturn in Cancer. Incidentally, we observe that these planets are in mutual reception (the Moon rules Cancer, and Saturn, Capricorn). They are believed to express their respective energy in foreign lands, and they inextricably link the Houses activated by the pattern. Based on this logic, we can safely assume that Douglas has a problem regarding ancestry (the two luminaries and Saturn taken together), perhaps caused by the place the Douglas dynasty occupies in people's mind (Neptune) and by the stardom of his father Kirk.

Although the T-square is not easy to live with – especially for a person with the Sun in Libra, always considerate towards others – it provides the strength required to impose one's personality. Nevertheless, we must qualify our statement and underline that becoming an adult has not been a bed of roses. In real life, it immediately brought about fame in 1975, when Michael Douglas committed himself to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Kirk Douglas had bought the film rights, then he felt too old for the lead role of Murphy, and he handed them over to his son. The latter did not take long to show how to go about it: with a 3 million dollar budget for this mythical movie, which earned him an Oscar for best picture and grossed approximately 100 million dollars (in those days!). Difficult to dream of anything better to free himself from his famous father's influence and to make a name for himself while staying in the cinema trade.

In the following years, we witnessed the emergence of an attractive Michael Douglas, sometimes charming, and some other times, nefarious. His chart shows that he is well-equipped in this regard.

Venus, ruler of the Sun, is conjunct Mars in Libra, and Mars is supported by Uranus in Gemini. This indicates that Michael Douglas steps off the beaten track when it comes to seduction. He is bold and able to convince anybody, even without his knowing it. During the ‘90s, he inspired respect with striking roles for this type of bewitching personages: in Fatal Attraction, he was pursued by a vengeful Glenn Close after a night of distraction. In Basic Instinct, in 1992, he amazed the Festival of Cannes with Sharon Stone, with whom he shot very torrid love scenes, a sort of glory to the icy eroticism of that time. In Disclosure, he was harassed by his powerful boss Demi Moore because he rejected her sexual advances. In real life also, his love affair with another Libra, the not less attractive Catherine Zeta-Jones, hit the headlines. He married her in 2000. Since then, despite their 25-year gap, and a few periods of turbulence, they constitute a reference couple.

In addition to the influence of Libra we just delineated, Michael Douglas often expresses a powerful magnetism which rather stems from other typical features of his chart, namely his Scorpio Ascendant and his Pluto dominant. Bearing in mind that the chart's ruler is in Leo in tough aspect with the Ascendant, we understand better why the actor is reported to have setbacks affecting him personally in this regard. For quite some time, he has committed Plutonian excesses, which led to several detoxification treatments, and he is known for having been a sex addict! When he was diagnosed with throat cancer, people related his health condition to his intemperance.

Fortunately, Michael Douglas drew from the 8th sign and from Pluto the capacity to be reborn from nearly anything. Despite his achievements and a brilliant social life, he went through many ordeals. He overcame them all with dignity, and managed to rise from the ashes.

Let us add a word on his intellectual and financial skills. Looking at another conjunction, this time Jupiter and Mercury in Virgo, there is no doubt that he is very good at money matters. He transposed this talent in Wall Street, for which he won an Oscar for best actor. We have mentioned above that he has a keen nose for finding nice business opportunities.

Transiting Saturn on Douglas' planets in Libra, then on his Ascendant located in mid-Scorpio, from 2010 to 2013, resulted in a difficult period: his disease, troubles with his son who was in jail, a split with his wife, happily surmounted. In 2014, we note that the collective cardinal Grand Square affected him less severely, because it did not fall exactly on his natal planets in cardinal signs. In 2015, he seems in quite good shape. Saturn is eventually supporting the natal Sun and soon Pluto, ruler of the Ascendant. Nonetheless, Douglas must be wary of transiting Uranus opposite natal Mars.

Let us conclude with relatively good news: the return of Jupiter, who was active only briefly in the summer of 2015, but who will come back to this position in 2016. Perhaps a forthcoming success for this actor, valuable in the Hollywood landscape.
