In April 2016, Emmanuel Macron was still Minister of Economy, Industry, and Digital Affairs in François Hollande’s government when he launched his movement En Marche ! He thus planted the seed for the future. Since he lacks no ambition, he rapidly works twice as hard: publishing of Révolution, a book explaining his vision, in the summer of 2016. Four months later, he resigned, relying on a solid popularity which led him to run for president of France.
Less than four days before the final decision, Macron is still leading the polls, or just behind Marine Le Pen for the first round. Moreover, he is heavily favoured to win against the latter after the second round. Such a quick progression can only astonish, and Macron is definitely a personality who intrigues, attracts, or irritates, including beyond France’ borders.
Having said this, let us look at his chart. Born with the Sun in Sagittarius in the last degrees of Sagittarius, Macron is a good incarnation of this sign tenanted by four planets. Mercury is tightly linked to the Sun while Venus is conjunct Neptune. This planet is the only one posited in the 10th House, that of career and vocation, whereas the three others are in the 11th House, associated with social and political matters. These factors indicate strong idealism – Sagittarius, Neptune, and the 11th House, all this being powered by the ardour of the Fire element. Besides, the chart in general is marked by Fire and by Earth, which produces a blend of faith and the need for concrete application. Macron usually manages to get his way, because with a characteristic Sagittarian pride, he accepts neither failures nor poor excuses.
His physique shows the signature of the 9th sign. His gaze is both keen and inspired. He seems full of energy, and he is brimming with enthusiasm. A priori, he is self-assured, especially regarding the debut of his presidential campaign which was meteoric and promised to be fruitful. Sagittarius’ optimism, will to achieve and to think big are proverbial.
We also see that Macron leaves no stone unturned, and that he is blessed with a surprisingly easy ability to demonstrate – already – that he is a person of considerable stature. A go-getter, he may overdo at times. He owes this flaw to the fact that Jupiter, ruler of the sign and therefore of the four planets we have mentioned, is in the first degrees of Cancer, opposite the Sun. This aspect reveals a wild desire for leadership but also an excess of self-confidence. This is all the more so as Jupiter retrograde demands special self-control efforts. For instance, at his first big meeting at Porte de Versailles, in Paris, on 10 December 2016, at the end of his speech, the candidate got carried away, screamed, then concluded with a raspy voice: "What I want is that you, everywhere, you make it successful, because it is our project!" The audience may have been amused by this outburst, but not for too long, because Macron never made the same mistake again and corrected it smartly.
Fortunately for him, his Ascendant is in Capricorn, an ambitious sign archetypical of politicians, which enables him to balance his efforts. He is absolutely determined, serious, and tenacious. One must not imagine, not for one second, that he may tire or change course, as it sometimes happens under the influence of Sagittarius alone. Macron’s Ascendant makes him even more persevering that Saturn trines the Sun. It is the classic mark of those who keep their composure and a certain stability. Since the above-mentioned meeting, observers have seen that Macron does not get worked up any more and that, very cleverly, he refrained from being aggressive towards his rivals. However, when he is attacked, owing to his peculiar strategic sense and to the influence of Mercury on his Sun, his retorts burst forth.
At this point, we understand that despite his young age Macron has the qualities required to become a statesman. The Capricorn-Sagittarius with a strong Saturn blend is excellent for the area in which he chose to shine. However, he needs to be wary of the square Saturn sends to the Midheaven, for it may hamper or slow down his rise to the top. This is unlikely to be the case in 2017, since the transits do not affect these positions in his chart (whether or not he is elected, his 2017 journey is an achievement), as we shall see further on.
The other feature worth studying is the Moon in Taurus, in the 3rd House, opposite Uranus. The Moon in Taurus indicates that values are important and that Macron is unwilling to break with traditions. Yes, but... Uranus, just opposite, challenges the Moon, with whom he has no affinity, and to whom he imposes his desire for change and for independence. As a result, Macron’s communication may seem conflicting. This atypical Moon may also explains the prevailing role of Brigitte Macron, his wife, who is older than him and who once was his teacher. The intellectual link between them provides stability, even though he has to face the hazards of social pressure and of still fashionable different ideals. "What a weird couple!" people think. This opinion does not prevent Macron from insisting, often posing for photographers with his wife, who attends all his functions.
To conclude this short analysis of the natal chart, we could add a karmic consideration such as Pluto in the 8th House conjunct the North Node. The person is obviously gifted for finance – Macron started his career in a banking house. Such a position indicates that he is much stronger and determined that some people would believe, and that he is a great political strategist. Although Pluto is a generational planet, its configuration ought to be underlined in Macron’s case, since it acts as a facilitator for Mars in Leo, the latter provoking about-turns which are too sudden or badly understood. On the other hand, well-aspected and in the 8th House, Pluto can offer considerable assets when it comes to power struggle.
Instead of affirming that Macron will be the next President of France, we prefer to remain cautious as well as reasonably reserved.
Nevertheless, we can say that Macron is going through an intense period of maturation with the transit of Saturn, one of his dominants, on his stellium posited on the last degrees of Sagittarius (this has been the case since the beginning of 2017 and will last until the end of the year). It should be noted that his Saturn is well-supported by Uranus, which suggests the effect of surprise he provokes on the public scene.

In early May 2017, when the election campaign will be in full swing (after the first round and before the results of 7 May), Jupiter, ruler of the Sun, will transit the Libra degrees which are between the North Node and Pluto, well-connected to natal Mars in Leo in the 7th House. It is undeniably a nice asset showing that Macron will manage to ally himself with an energetic person and/or to give the feeling that he has the edge over his competitor with a view to winning the elections. In addition, the Moon will join Jupiter on Sunday, 7 May, while Mercury will meet Uranus. Quite good omens which are yet to be confirmed, because the prognosis is very risky given the large number of elements, as always in presidential campaigns when contenders are still numerous.
