Very Highlighted Sign of Virgo
The handsome actor left many inconsolable fans after his tragic death in a car accident on 30 November 2013 at 3:30 P.M. in Valencia, Santa Clarita, in California. He was a mere passenger in a Porsche Carrera going at twice the maximum speed limit of 70 km/h.
Paul Walker was only 40. He was mainly known for the role of Brian O'Connor in the series of worldwide successful films Fast and Furious (until the 7th episode).
Born in a family which valued physical assets – sportsmen on the father's side, who was an entrepreneur and amateur boxer. As for the mother, she was a fashion model - Walker had the Sun in Virgo, with the Ascendant in this sign, as well as its ruler Mercury, in domicile. One can hardly be more emblematic of the importance of Virgo in a natal chart.
Those who trust the impression given by the actor may be surprised to learn that his personality perfectly matches this astrological signature, because this sign is well known for its discretion, its meticulousness, and its natural modesty.
Thus, after his demise, the public heard that he passed up several big movies. No doubt that his filmography could have been longer, had Walker been more ambitious.
Despite this character trait, Virgo progresses in life thanks to multiple facets such as rationality, taste for perfection, and strategic sense.
For instance, we could underline that Walker excelled in the role of cop – in Fast and Furious – who managed so well to penetrate groups of criminals, without seeming to do so. Moreover, in his private life, he was deeply modest and gave few personal details despite – or because of – his fame. Another typical Virgo feature.
Moon in Pisces: Love for Sea and Ecology
One of the major aspects of the chart is probably the almost exact opposition between the luminaries. They are posited on the Ascendant-Descendant relationship axis, the natal Moon being in Pisces and in an angle.
Behind the façade of the handsome and spruce man who enjoyed his British discreet elegance and his respect for good manners, was hidden a person caring for great humanitarian causes. For example, during his adolescence, he chose to become interested in marine biology. Then, taking advantage of his fame, he participated in the shooting of a film about sharks for the National Geographic channel. The actor completely involved himself in the project of tagging seven great white sharks off the coast of Mexico, in order to better take relevant conservation measures.
In addition to ecology, Walker was concerned about the most destitute human beings. Besides, it is said that when he started out, he was himself homeless during his university years of hardship, which might explain his participation in the documentary Shelter about the homeless of Santa Monica.
Mars and the Man of Action
Going back to his taste for action, we must look at natal Mars in Taurus and in the 9th House. Mars forms a nice trine with the Ascendant in Virgo, endowing Walker with good energy and appetite for sports.
Since the Earth element of the chart is prevailing, Walker's actions were well thought-of and pragmatic.
The drawback comes from Jupiter in the 5th House in square with Mars, which may indicate a slight tendency toward exaggeration or toward risk-taking, especially through leisure activities.
Quite Uncomfortable Mercury
Let us focus on one of the dominants, Mercury, whose role weakens the entire natal chart. Indeed, the planet, ruler of the Sun and the Ascendant, is in conjunction with Pluto (even though the latter is already in Libra), and above all in square with Saturn. However, Saturn is in Cancer, a sign in harmony with Virgo.
Notwithstanding the gaps of these aspects, the astrologer must underline the crucial role of Mercury, who brings a dark touch to the personality's essential features. It may even explain that things did not last, because the aspect comes from Saturn, the most elevated planet of the chart. In any case, Mercury made Walker vulnerable to inner ordeals, and the flawless and so charming façade he showed probably concealed torments the intensity of which no one suspected.
The Sun-Moon opposition reinforced this situation and cyclically made the personality shift from analytical and rational precision – Virgo – to the humanistic, instinctive, emotional, and boundless vision of Pisces. It is most likely that the pendulum was certainly uncomfortable, for these two character features are very different. The Moon made Walker easily swayed and reckless, while the Sun needed guard rails, preparation, and limits.
Neptune and Creativity
In Walker's chart, we also notice a triangle (two successive sextiles) between slow-moving planets, i.e. Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto. Bearing in mind that he shared this aspect with many people having this configuration, it is necessary to pay attention first and foremost to their influence in Houses, as well as to the fastest planet.
In the case of Walker, Pluto is found in the 1st House, Neptune in Sagittarius is in a wide orb with the Imum Coeli but still in the 3rd House, and Jupiter in Aquarius is in the 5th House, that of leisure, creations and recreations. The actor was inspired and pursued his passions unreservedly, although his style was discreet.
Accident and Brutal Death
The accident in which he died on his way to a charity event on that day may seem surprising coming from a person so marked by Virgo, a sign which never does anything on impulse and which is well known for its cautiousness and its will to manage everything meticulously.
However, if we examine the transits of the actor on 30 November 2012 at 3:00 P.M., we can see that Mars was reaching the conjunction with natal Mercury in Virgo, as he does every two years. The red planet thus reactivated the Sun-Moon duality, one of the weaknesses of the natal chart.
In terms of exact transits, at that moment, there was a square from Neptune and his natal place in the 3rd House, a square from Venus and Jupiter (in mundane opposition) with natal Uranus, the Sun exactly on the Imum Coeli (the end of things), but this happens each year during one day; the Moon was in the 3rd House (short trips) and facing Mars; transiting Saturn and Mercury too were in the natal 3rd House. Nevertheless, in our opinion, none of this is enough to explain the fatal conclusion.
Therefore, it is necessary to look at the symbolic directions (or solar arcs, more precise), as well as the secondary directions, and the solar revolution.
Regarding symbolic directions, one immediately observes that tensions were as extreme as unsettling on that day:
- Progressed Mars was in exact square with the natal Sun, and therefore with the Ascendant and the Moon, a very critical position in the chart,
- Progressed Mercury was in exact opposition with natal Mars, with an orb of less than one degree, in the 3rd House (short trips),
- Progressed Ascendant is exactly on natal Uranus (the unexpected),
- The full Moon (Sun-Moon opposition) was in exact conjunction with natal Venus, the progressed Moon being in the 8th House,
- Progressed Venus was in conjunction with the Imum Coeli, and in square with the Ascendant.
Since these conjunctions, squares, and oppositions very seldom occur simultaneously, it is reasonable to consider that they are strong indications of a tragic or at least serious event.
Now, let us look at the secondary directions on the afternoon when the accident happened.
- The progressed Moon was in front of the natal Moon, in opposition and in conjunction with the natal Sun, activating the difficult opposition in the natal chart; this additional coincidence can only alert us,
- Progressed Mars was in the 8th House (accidents, death), in square with natal Jupiter.
In the solar revolution chart now:
- Mars was in the 3rd House (short trips), in square with the Saturn of the solar revolution chart,
- Saturn in the revolution chart was in the natal 3rd, in exact opposition with Mars, at 8° Scorpio, a strong pointer to an accident.
Others factors may call for attention, but they are less active.
To sum up, we can only see that there were very alarming clues about an important and serious event in symbolic directions (or solar arcs, which are quite similar), secondary directions and the solar revolution, whereas transits gave more tenuous signals, which is rare enough to be underscored.
In the case of Walker, using these two techniques of predictions, namely solar revolution and transits, was anyway the minimum required.
Having said this, we cannot insist enough on the fact that death cannot be predicted by astrology. More or less relevant hints may exist, but it has always been impossible to foresee a fatal ending, although some quite exotic authors are sometimes used to claim that this is possible.
Predictive astrological techniques are useful and relevant, but they are unable to precisely determine things, far from it. At best, they are more or less reliable probabilities, and nothing else, very fortunately.
