Analysis of Steve Jobs' astrological chart

Daily news regularly puts the spotlight on all sorts of famous people. Although we are not fond of juicy information, we inevitably have an idea about a given political figure, a movie star, a Royal Highness, or a skilled sportsman.

Those well-known faces draw our interest and seem familiar to us, because we watch their successes or their setbacks day by day.

Astrology may also be considered as an interesting filter to better define their personality, and to guess whether the events they experience are confirmed by their planets' activities. Astrology does not reveal everything, of course, but using the dominants and other peculiarities of the natal chart, we can see whether the astrological portrait matches the collective image or offers unsuspected additional nuances.

After Steve Jobs and Edward Norton, here is an article about the visionary Steve Jobs.

Paradoxical, complex, and brilliant, Steve Jobs also has a chart which keeps its features hidden.

To begin with, the planets are very harmoniously distributed in signs and in sectors. At first sight, there are no salient points. For instance, the weighting of the four elements is almost perfectly balanced.

Having said this, as we look more closely into the chart, we gradually see that the features of the personality are clearly displayed.

With the Sun in Pisces and the Ascendant in Virgo, two opposite signs, Steve Jobs needed to confront the world. First observation: a tall man, dry, who imposed a drastic vegetarian diet on himself, with small spectacles on his nose (at least when he started to age), and always soberly dressed. The Virgo Ascendant, the appearance, suggested this type of choice: he was unwilling to draw attention on his looks; he wanted to impress people with his presence and his intellectual qualities.

The Sun in Pisces, the true personality, completes the portrait and discloses the details of his charisma. In an indefinable way, he managed to be in sync with the crowds all over the world. Some people considered him as some sort of guru, and Apple products rapidly became what is generally considered a love brand. Although the price tag is higher than other brands, it is not a problem, as the customers' enthusiasm is stirred by irrational reasons. It must be underlined that the Venus-Ascendant trine probably contributed to the power of fascination exerted by this entrepreneur. This applies similarly to the fun nature of his computers, his telephones, and his tablets, the aesthetics and the colours of which match the characteristics of Pisces more than those of Virgo.

He was likewise influenced by Pisces throughout his early youth. Deeply inspired by the hippy movement, Steve Jobs was a child of Kerouac, openly taking drugs, walking barefoot most of the time, and getting interested in Eastern philosophies. However, the co-founder of Apple (with Steve Wozniak) was neither a crank nor an easy-going man. His Mercury in Aquarius gave him a sharp mind, visionary yet not quixotic. Had he been a Pisces only, his inventions would have remained in the realm of fantasy. It is perhaps this Mercury in Aquarius who allowed Jobs to bring the technology of the future to our world, and to literally change our life and our routine through the intellect.

Actually, Mercury stands out as the dominant of the chart. He rules the Ascendant and sends to it a minor aspect (a quincunx). Moreover, he trines the Midheaven. This is not surprising if we include Mercury's entire attributes, i.e. cerebral functions, eloquence of course, but commercial acumen too.

It is not necessary to recall how this young student, a video games fan, managed to become one of the living myths of the Silicon Valley. It was owing to a very simple astute invention that he started to be successful: "My competitors were mere photocopier makers who had no idea of what a computer could do", he once explained uncompromisingly. As he devised a much more practical mouse than the one having three buttons which was systematically provided in those days, he launched a totally innovative concept.

In addition, we note that Mercury in Aquarius has a link with Uranus conjunct Jupiter in Cancer. This generational conjunction is important in Jobs' chart because Uranus rules Mercury and heralds success and popularity (Jupiter and Cancer).

It is worth examining Aries, a sign accentuated because it shelters two personal planets, the Moon and Mars (not conjunct). Jobs possesses the creative fire of the 1st sign of the zodiac as well as its willingness to bring something completely new to life, such as a computer baby revolutionising the electronic industry of those days. Mars and the Moon in Aries suggest an emotional temperament which becomes inflamed at the drop of a hat. These two planets posited in this sign can mainly explain Steve Jobs' memorable tantrums and rebellious facet. As for the not always modest remarks he made here and there, and the awareness that he was the striking genius of his century, they are more related to Aries than to Virgo or Pisces.

To sum up, we find in this portrait the evidences of a singular personality capable of being active in various areas. A strategy master (Virgo), Steve Jobs knew how to blow hot and cold air, encouraging his troops then harshly blaming them for their incompetence. In brief, he was as hot-headed as he was great.

Steven Paul Jobs (February 24, 1955 (source: Rodden, birth certificate) – October 5, 2011) was an American business magnate, industrial designer, investor, and media proprietor. The release of the Iphone 4s, on 14 October 2011, will be remembered as the fastest success in the history of mobile phone. Steve Jobs resigned two months earlier, as he has been suffering from advanced pancreatic cancer. His death, occurring a few days before the launching of the new Iphone, served its cause and increased the popularity of Apple and of its founder. The former boss had found the time to organise what would come next by spreading out the release of new devices so that his company remains successful.

On 5 October 2011, the day he passed away, there are not many significant transits. We only observe that transiting Saturn square Venus indicates sadness. However, Saturn, associated with the passing of time, trines the Midheaven too. How could it be possible to better foreshadow the company's continuous success beyond the demise of its founder?
