The life of Bernard Tapie is like a fictitious story, even though it is briefly told. Modest beginnings, climbing the social ladder through sheer hard work, legal problems, fame, sports, politics, brilliant success, extraordinary fall from grace, resounding comeback. And this is probably not the end.
Therefore, to illustrate this destiny, one expects to find a singular natal chart. Indeed, the stars are eloquent in this case! The blend of the Sun in Aquarius and the Ascendant in Sagittarius describes a coherent personality, which is future-oriented and interested in progress, two strong features shared by these two signs. Aquarius gives him a very unusual way to tackle life challenges, unworried by the proprieties. Actually, he loathes established order. Sagittarius endows him with an optimistic temperament, always confident, in his own vital drive to begin with (In addition, Mars is in this sign and in the 1st House). Bernard Tapie was born in a humble working environment. He started as a television sets salesman before trying his luck in the media, quite successfully! In front of TV cameras, where his sense of repartee often threw his interlocutors off balance, and even as TV presenter, he did tremendously well, indisputably. Because it is associated with waves and new technologies, Aquarius may give strong skills in these fields, as well as in politics.
Furthermore, Bernard Tapie can rely on his charm, with his Midheaven in Libra, and its ruler, Venus, in the Sun sign and conjunct the South Node. For those interested in karmic astrology – they still exist – it seems that in the past, Tapie already enjoyed the wealth which he nevertheless strives to find in the present life. It is not surprising that indications related to material life are recurring. This is what may explain the fact that this Aquarius/Sagittarius is more solidly rooted in reality than if he did not have these influences. The Sun in the 2nd House confirms that money and possessions are important, although they must be used to accomplish the mission he assigned to himself, instead of being hoarded. The opposition of the Sun, in Aquarius in the 2nd House, to Pluto, in Leo in the 8th House, is one of the two major configurations of the chart. It heralds the roller-coaster ride, always linked to some social and economic event: takeover then sale of Adidas by the Crédit Lyonnais, the bank he is in conflict with, achievement in sports with the Olympique de Marseille – which will send him to jail for a short time – and finally, media proprietor since 2012!
Getting back to astrology, the second major configuration is original, owing to the planets and signs involved: there is a nice kite pattern formed by his Sun in Aquarius conjunct Mercury, the two planets being linked to Uranus–Saturn in early Gemini and to Neptune. Pluto is the main planet of this pattern, which is sometimes too harmonious and gives a tendency towards self-satisfaction. In this case, one may be tempted to see some sort of megalomania, which clashes with genuinely idealistic Aquarius values. In addition, let us not forget that this kite pattern includes the rulers of Aquarius, namely Uranus (modernity and originality), and Saturn (perseverance). The result is an equation comprising Aquarius–Leo–Air–Pluto, intellectual and relatively dry, which highlights in its way Tapie's numerous talents.
Although the chart seems to provide natural abilities and incredible luck, it does not protect him against imprudence. Mars in the 1st House, square Neptune and the Moon in the 9th House, constitutes an obvious pointer. The aspect is not alarming in itself, but it has caused, and will cause again, costly excesses, even though the initial step was well-meant. Neptune portends unclear affairs, not to mention the shady circumstances surrounding all his financial arrangements or his murky acquisitions. But at the same time, Neptune is the most elevated planet of his chart, and endows Tapie with real prestidigitator skills.
Bernard Tapie
What are his relationships with the justice system? Jupiter, the symbol of legal affairs in this chart, is isolated from the other configurations. He is almost discreet, though active in Cancer in the 8th House. Sometimes, isolated planets paradoxically exert a strong influence. Is it the case for this businessman?

In 2013, Tapie was indicted for the fallout of the arbitration which concluded his disagreement with the Crédit Lyonnais. He should exercise great caution in the fall of 2013 when transiting Jupiter returns to his natal place, since this occurs under quite harsh conditions. Therefore, the forthcoming period may be quite critical, even more so because Saturn squares the material axis (2nd House – 8th House), thus hitting his Sun-Mercury conjunction in Aquarius, facing Pluto in Leo. The message of the stars is clear, and the climate is not good for his finances, which are very likely to be challenged. This unfavourable trend continues during the winter of 2013-2014, with Uranus opposed to Neptune, the ruler of Tapie's chart, as mentioned above, and also opposed to the Midheaven (against a square to Pluto backdrop).
Secondary directions highlight the arrival of Mars on natal Venus: charisma gives way to combativeness. However, as far as solace is concerned, it seems that Tapie is at the end of an important cycle in the autumn of 2014 (Mars return), and supported by a much more favourable context. He may pick himself up, once more.
