Julian Clary (born 25 May 1959) is an English comedian and writer who is openly gay and known for his playing-on-stereotypes camp style, with a heavy reliance on innuendo and double entendre. Early life Clary was born in Surbiton, Surrey. He is partly of German descent . He was brought up in Teddington, Middlesex and went to St Benedict's School, a Catholic school in Ealing, London. He studied English and Drama at Goldsmith's College, part of the University of London.
