Analysis of Sting's astrological chart

Daily news regularly puts the spotlight on all sorts of famous people. Although we are not fond of juicy information, we inevitably have an idea about a given political figure, a movie star, a Royal Highness, or a skilled sportsman.

Those well-known faces draw our interest and seem familiar to us, because we watch their successes or their setbacks day by day.

Astrology may also be considered as an interesting filter to better define their personality, and to guess whether the events they experience are confirmed by their planets' activities. Astrology does not reveal everything, of course, but using the dominants and other peculiarities of the natal chart, we can see whether the astrological portrait matches the collective image or offers unsuspected additional nuances.

After Ellen Pompeo and Ariana Grande, here is an article about the consensual Sting.

Focus Astro celebrity: Sting

When he travelled to Paris to celebrate the reopening of the Bataclan, Sting proved that he could represent the principles of peace and harmony. Indeed, he displays all the characteristics of a person born with the Sun in Libra. In his chart, there is a tight conjunction between the Sun and Saturn, who is also the second ruler of Libra, which needs to be underlined in this case. Sting is probably more "serious" than a representative of Libra heavily influenced by Venus. With this aspect, his nature is tinted by a certain degree of melancholy that he can control by showing to people a solid and protective face.

Further in the sign, a very nice Moon-Neptune conjunction indicates that he has an artistic temperament. He is literally inspired. While recapitulating these first data, we note that the luminaries, one of which is the horoscope's ruler as we shall see later, are also posited in Libra. They compose a balanced and coherent personality which gathers all the sign's qualities and flaws.

He was born in a modest family. His father was a labourer, and his mother, a musician at heart. Young Gordon Matthew Sumner, not yet called Sting, has a precocious calling. It is when he found by accident a guitar in his uncle's place that he starts to dive into it. To supplement his music learning which is becoming eclectic, he tries various instruments such as the piano, the saxophone, panpipes, and the harmonica.

While continuing his schooling - and even during his training, since he will work for some time as a schoolteacher - he starts to perform in small clubs. He is mainly interested in jazz, but his first steps lead him to a more consensual production. He becomes the third member, as a bassist, of the group The Police and immediately meets with success, with a song which will remain in the annals: Roxanne... In 1997, when this song is released, the name of this British trio is on everyone's lips. The Police goes on a series of tours and collects a string of triumphs. However, the group experiences several internal dissensions.

Strangely enough, in 1985, Sting chooses to start a solo career, tired of being forced to deal with all his partners' moodiness. Such a choice may be surprising, coming from a person born with the Sun in Libra, but it is probably the expression of the Ascendant in Leo. Indeed, its influence is powerful, since Sting's chart has a prominent Pluto on the Ascendant, even more reluctant to compromise that he is in conjunction with Mars. However, the latter is also linked to Venus, already in Virgo. Here are Sting's first contradictions. Although he is oriented towards the quest of beauty and humanism, he is not the type of person who accepts to be imposed on anything. Self-willed, inflexible, and sanguine, this is the other facet of such a personality.

In addition to this remark, let us mention that Sting's chart has a T-Square between Jupiter in an angle, the Midheaven (the career), Uranus, and the Sun-Moon-Neptune trio in Libra (in our opinion, even though Saturn conjuncts the Sun, he is not part of the pattern, at least technically speaking, because the orb is too wide. We have noticed above that the Sun is tinged with this Saturnian influence). In all cases, the T-Square indicates the need to soothe the tension caused by this dynamic feature. It is obviously expressed in his compositions, which belong to the intimate sphere and enable him to reveal himself (Moon and Neptune on the IC).

A very idealistic person, Sting is most likely to be as demanding with himself as with people, even regarding the world of tomorrow. He is well-known for his various commitments. Photos showing him with Chief Raoni, striving to save the Amazonian forest, long before ecology became a value as fashionable as it is now, went round the world in 1989. He never abandoned his struggle, and he organises every year a charity concert benefitting this cause. Moreover, he supports several initiatives in favour of peace, including Amnesty International's activities.

As the year 2017 begins, Sting is blessed with the meaningful passage of Jupiter on his numerous planets in Libra. This transit was of course already active when he gave his concert for the reopening of the Bataclan, on 12 November 2016. The planet reawakened the natal Sun in the weeks preceding "D-Day", especially when its transit opposed its own natal place.

It is interesting to underline that this collective aspect (Jupiter is the first planet of this type) is occurring on the Aries-Libra axis, which symbolises relationships, the first sign being considered to be bellicose, and the second sign, more accommodating. We can see an obvious connection between the context and the tragic events commemorated at that time.
