Born in a wealthy family, or hippies' child? As far as Léa Seydoux is concerned, it is a bit of both.
On the one hand, her paternal branch opened for her the royal path to the cinema, since her grandfather is the president of Pathé, and her father, an important businessman. The maternal side offered a real counterweight with humanitarian values, sustainable development concerns, and love for Africa. It was in this simple and committed environment that she grew up.
What does the natal chart tell us? the Sun in Cancer urges her to respect the whole family environment and to be prepared to fight for it with pugnacity. Indeed, our little Cancer has the Sun conjunct Mars and trine Pluto. Whoever criticizes her family or her roots gets in big trouble. Besides, she reacts fiercely when people ask her whether her name made things easier for her: "My grandfather has never lifted a finger to help me in the entertainment world", she argues.
Nevertheless, basically, is she aware of the weight of her name? Difficult to say, because with her Virgo Ascendant, she first comes across as movingly shy. She is not self-assured, and she is not sure that she is good-looking. She deems that she was hopeless at school, and that the possibility to shine as an actress has enabled her to find her place in the society, even nowadays. It is true that many astrological combinations are more assertive than Cancer-Virgo!
However, the analysis of the chart clearly indicates that Léa Seydoux has great potential. She can rely on a splendid Venus in her own sign in Taurus, conjunct the Midheaven, the career. There is no doubt that it is thanks to her burning sensuality and her charisma that she succeeded in making a name for herself... in the public at large. Nonetheless, with Venus opposing Saturn, fame is not achieved smoothly, not without difficulties and pains.
For instance, we all bear in mind the conflict with Abdellatif Kechiche, the director of Blue is the warmest colour, the film which earned her the Palme d'Or for best actress at Cannes, in 2013. Later on, she confided that the shooting has been an ordeal, for she really had to go against her nature to play her character. And that she would never do this again. With Mercury, ruler of the Ascendant, who is in Leo and part of the dominants after Venus, one must take Seydoux's word for it. When she finally expressed herself, she displayed more authority than she herself thought she was capable of.
She can also count on the position of Mercury in Leo when she must answer the trickiest questions. Moreover, Mercury squares Pluto, which tends to give rise to hostile exchanges such as those related to this blockbuster.
To analyse her private and personal life, let us concentrate on two planets, Venus and the Moon. Venus predisposes Seydoux to be a great lover, in real life as well as in the movies. She has simple and healthy principles: stable life, fidelity, long-term commitments. But she ought to beware of Saturn, who gives her a timid and sometimes icy behaviour in the area of love, thus compelling her to overcome her fears.
The Moon in Sagittarius adds a more adventurous touch to this profile. Seydoux is deeply inspired by foreign matters, and it is likely that the Moon points to the years she spent in Africa – because such was her mother's decision – where she enjoys recharging her batteries. The Moon has little in common with Venus in Taurus, except the uplifting propensity to be a bon viveur, to laugh, and to embrace life enthusiastically.
It is interesting to underline that in the summer of 2013, she benefitted from the emphasis on Water sign, which formed a grand trine during the second part of the year. Jupiter transiting her Sun-Mars conjunction protected this Cancer lady quite strongly. Even though Cannes acted as a trigger, it was mainly in autumn that the public discovered her face and her sex-symbol facet.
She then went through a period which she herself described as "new doubts", perhaps due to Jupiter entering the 12th House (end of cycle) and in tough aspect with natal Venus. Furthermore, there was also the dreaded "Saturn return", symbol of the thirties, which completed the shift to a different chapter of life. Léa Seydoux has become a woman who has eventually left the last ramparts of childhood.

Fortunately, it is probable that in the course of 2015 she will set off again on a better footing. The transit of Jupiter on her Ascendant in August and, later on, his progression will favour Venus on the Midheaven. This is an excellent omen for the release of the James Bond in which she is playing one of the lead roles. She may have to cope with a few issues in her relationships, on and off, since Jupiter in the 1st House opposes Neptune in the 7th House (the partner). She will have to make crucial choices, which is never easy for a Cancer-Virgo person.
