The chart which characterises gorgeous Isabelle Adjani is quite nocturnal, with a large majority of planets posited in the Northern hemisphere. Only Saturn and Neptune are above the horizon axis, and we cannot say that these planets are particularly extrovert! Therefore, at first glance, the comedian's personality appears marked by a natural reserve blended with the urge to get to the bottom of things and to create.
However, since she was born with the Sun in the summer sign of Cancer and with the Ascendant in Aries, she keeps the evanescent but primary facets – in the psychological meaning of the word, i.e. spontaneity – of these signs and combination. In her case, Cancer is by far the strongest of all. This is probably the reason why she is, somehow, its excellent archetype.
For once, the Aries Ascendant, which should convey the first impression we get from Adjani, is less noticeable.
Cancer endows her with a dreamy face, wide melancholic eyes, and the looks of an eternally young child. She seems to withstand the test of time and to retain her adolescent vulnerability as well as her exceptionally good-looking physique. She has the capacity to slip into the roles she plays, which in her profession is a tremendous asset and earned her a deserved and excellent reputation for her performances, especially when she explores the range of romantic characters. The story of Adèle H., Camille Claudel, and Queen Margot are good examples. Besides, whether modern or classic, the heroines she embodies are always great lovers ready to let their overwhelming passion ruin their life.
As far as she is concerned, Isabelle Adjani is straightforward about this. The numerous and atypical eclipses occurring in her career have only one explanation: "I was in love", she once summed up in a few words which tell the whole story, when she was asked the question.
Moreover, one must admit that she demonstrated a bit of masochism in this regard. Warren Beatty, Daniel Day-Lewis, Jean-Michel Jarre, or Stéphane Delajoux, among other often famous names, remain for her synonymous with stormy relationships. Inveterate seducers, sometimes egocentric, in brief, rather difficult personalities for a sweet Cancer like her.
Strangely enough, with such a romantic past, the comedian never married. With the benefit of hindsight, she now jokes about the total success... of the complete failure of her love life!
In any case, in line with the planetary distribution of her chart, she has constantly given priority to her private life, in the broad sense. Her outstanding Mercury-Venus conjunction in the 3rd House in Gemini reinforces her juvenile spontaneity, whereas her Mars-Uranus conjunction in the 4th House emphasises her family life. Mars and Uranus, not too comfortable in this House, suggest a risk of unbalance or even inner conflicts.
With an Algerian father and a German mother, who felt ill at ease with her husband's citizenship, Isabelle Adjani was different right from the beginning. Throughout her childhood, this characteristic has been difficult to live with, but she managed to turn it into a strength, thanks to Mars. Ruler of the Ascendant, and one of her dominants, Mars underlines her fighting spirit, as illustrated for example by her courageous gesture when she decided to read an excerpt of The Satanic verses when she was awarded the César for best actress in 1989 for Queen Margot.
With these indicators, we are able to better grasp the importance of the Aries Ascendant and of the Mars dominant, when we realise that, even though she was a great lover or a fragile person, Isabelle Adjani did lead her life "like a man" and relied on herself only.
If there is on earth one comedian who never had strings pulled for her, or never received special favours, or privileges, it is Adjani.
The powerful influence of Cancer and of the Moon, prominent too, contributes to explain the very whimsical disposition of the star. In many instances, she has been responsible for cancellations, or refusals, or even conflicts with several actors or directors. Things have never been simple with this nocturnal creature! In the fall of 2014, after a long wait and many rumours of dissension, she finally reappeared in Kinship, a play by Carey Perloff. Apparently, the actress' relations with her partners were the reason of the numerous changes which cropped up to the last minute, and brought about the postponement of the premiere.

This year, it is true that the Cosmic Cross affected important spots of Adjani's chart. With Uranus on the Ascendant axis, she is driven by the need for independence and for revival, but Pluto, progressing in the 10th House, forgives nothing. The first half of 2014 has probably been quite difficult to deal with. On the other hand, her personality benefits from a nice asset: transiting Neptune in Pisces sends a very tight trine to her Sun in Cancer. An opportunity for Adjani to get closer to some sort of ideal, even though it may be more interiorised than concretely experienced. Maybe she is going through a period of healing and growth during which she gropes her way forward and alleviates the sufferings of the tragedy, so as to become more capable of letting go.
Next spring, after a rough patch in early 2015, transiting Jupiter will support her Uranus on the Ascendant. Instead of wasting her time with mixed feelings, she will be brimming over with projects.
In the area of love, it is around the fall of 2016, or in 2017, when Jupiter enters Libra and conjuncts her Moon, then her relationship axis (AS-DS), that she may expect some personal fulfilment. Nevertheless, we would tend to foresee for her a new predilection for autonomy which will last a long time, because Uranus is not willing to leave her 1st House soon. It will be "Adjani first", for once.
