"Iguana", alias the ageless Iggy Pop, from his real name James Newel Osterberg, is as fit as a fiddle although he just celebrated his 70th birthday. And he remains a thick-skinned showman.
To begin with, it is true that his horoscope has everything required to provide him with a great deal of energy, as Mars in Aries, the sign he rules, is almighty and near the culmination point (though still in the 9th House). This is probably one of the keys which helps understand why this pillar of rock and roll, punk tendency, is renowned for his athletic performances on stage. The red planet tightly conjuncts Mercury too, and as a result, action is always bound to thinking. Lastly, Mars and Mercury send a trine to Saturn, the rising planet, and above all to Pluto, further down in the 1st House in Leo, bearing in mind that the Ascendant is in late Cancer. They give a slightly dark and tormented side but also considerable stamina and mental strength, which explains Pop's longevity. Indeed, he has been into his career for over 50 years, and he has marked the history of music.
Born in a modest family in Michigan, James Newel Osterberg is the son of a base ball coach and has always cared for his musculature. When he was a child, his hero was Mickey Mantle, a baseball player myth. Having said that, Pop is under the influence of Taurus, where both his Sun and his Moon are posited – the latter being ruler of the Ascendant. His carapace conceals a tender heart. He is deeply attached to his parents, and is aware now that he used to be a difficult child.
In addition, the opposition of Mars and Mercury (again) to Neptune, in an angle in the IC, shows an antagonism between the capacity to fly off the handle in public and a gentler disposition in private. Getting back to Aries and Taurus, the most influential signs of the chart, on their own they endow Pop with an animal instinct and a power that nothing can undermine.
At the onset of his career, he was noticed with his band, The Stooges, for his performances and a rather brutal music. He was not immediately successful although he was intriguing. Pop did not hesitate to expose himself onstage, vomiting in public but also throwing himself on them as if he were in an arena. In short, he spared no efforts to stand out. Soon he drew the attention of David Bowie, who sensed that behind so many provocations there was a creative nature that should be encouraged. Actually, the natal chart suggests talent based on intuition and emotions, given a Water Grand Trine involving the Ascendant, Jupiter in Scorpio, and Venus in Pisces, in exaltation. There are no better assets in terms of generosity and feelings.
Nonetheless, Pop went off course for a long while, consuming alcohol and drugs in excess. The road to hell, a very Plutonian phenomenon, seemed endless. In 1969, the title I Wanna Be Your Dog, taken from one of The Stooges' album, became an anthem for the punks. Pop stepped into the myth of the outcast, or scandalous, artist. The dissolution of his band sent him to a psychiatric hospital for one year. It was David Bowie again who managed to get him out of his debasement and restored his desire to perform, going solo this time.
Pop stopped using drugs only in the eighties. A Jack of all trades, very Mercurian in this regard, he successfully tried his hand at the cinema, including with Jim Jarmusch (Dead Man, 1995, Coffee and Cigarettes: very Plutonian titles as we can see). He also played in more popular TV series (Star Trek : Deep Space Nine). Furthermore, he composed many soundtracks to remarkable films such as Arizona Dream by Emir Kusturica.
These last years, as he claimed to be a romantic (Taurus and Cancer notes), he demonstrated his crooner talents when he revived Edith Piaf's La Vie en Rose and Joe Dassin or Serge Gainsbourg's hits. Pop loves France and was made a Knight of the Arts and Letters. It is in the Cayman Islands that the iguana uses to recharge his batteries, by swimming in the nude of course.

In 2017, Jupiter transiting Libra probably activates the natal Mars-Mercury conjunction during part of the year. It is most likely that Jupiter's very promising transit, passing over his natal position in Scorpio, will revive the natal Water Grand Trine, and may bring about a period of special recognition. This will occur in the spring of 2018, i.e. almost tomorrow.
