The Elegance and the Discretion of Leo and Virgo
The Sun in Virgo-Ascendant in Leo combination is expected to give a sharp sense of elegance, both literally and figuratively. This is the case with Jeremy Irons, a British comedian, whose slender figure can be seen in the United States and Ireland, where he restored a castle.
However, Irons' first steps were difficult. Born in the Isle of Wight, he was first interested in rugby and music before moving towards the military. Very quickly, it was to the stage that he was really drawn, and he found a casual job as an assistant manager in a theatre. As he is typical of the 6th sign, he did not aspire straight away to be on the front cover and started with small parts. He then shifted to television.
It was only at 32, at long last, that he was entrusted with a leading role in a movie, Nijinsky. What followed occurred more rapidly. With The French Lieutenant's Woman, where he starred opposite Meryl Streep, his career took off the ground. The film received enthusiastic reviews, won prizes; and impressed with its mystery and its dramatic tension.
The insecurity of Virgo blended with the need to please of Venus.
Thanks to this role, Irons appeared to be the actor who could best personify all sorts of tormented yet well-off heroes. He was convincing as a romantic, decadent, or ambiguous aristocrat. This trait matches the natal Sun, ruler of the Leo Ascendant, and also primarily reflects the insecurity of Virgo.
Such persons swing between the urge to shine and the clear awareness of their flaws. Therefore, Irons constantly strove to improve himself and to fine-tune details so as to hone his acting skills.
Venus, who is in the 1st House and conjunct the Ascendant, points to his artistic orientation and his will to please. In this regard, we can underline that there are numerous contradictions in Irons' overall chart. It reveals strength and at the same time vulnerability, a certain roughness and gentleness.
We notice for example a trine configuration linking the Ascendant and Venus to the Moon, still in the 9th House although already conjunct the Midheaven and opposite Neptune. As a result, natural attractiveness and thirst for popularity are highlighted. Nonetheless, owing to this Venus-Ascendant structure squaring Mars in Scorpio, as indicated further down, Irons' personality is tinged with rebellion (Scorpio) and stubborness (fixed signs) as well as passion (Mars-Venus square).
An Energizing Sun-uranus-jupiter T-square
Along the same lines, the T-Square involving the Sun, engaged in a square with Uranus and Jupiter, turns Irons into a symbolic representative of the generation born with the opposition of these two slow-moving planets, namely Uranus and Jupiter.
What can be said of the Sun in Virgo, the sign of modesty as mentioned earlier, bullied by two planets of pride which are greedy for leadership, for freedom, and for independence? Such contradictions are illustrated by one of Irons' striking successes, Reversal of Fortune, which earned him an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
The film by Barbet Schröder is adapted from a novel based on the real story of Sunny von Bülow. It recounts how the husband of a wealthy heiress is finally acquitted thanks to the shrewdness of his lawyer, who uses all the loopholes of a very complicated case. A cold and unpleasant character, Claus von Bülow is aptly embodied by Irons, who manages to create a perfect egotist. The actor, well-known for being demanding and intellectual, left nothing to chance when he played this deeply inspiring part.
Then, he managed to begin an international career, switching from Hollywood high-budget movies to smaller European productions. Irons is able to act in French, and enjoys theatre plays too.
The roughness of Mars and the excessive sensitivity of the Moon in Aries.
Besides his talents, the actor is a man who is unafraid to voice his opinions. Mars in Scorpio, square the Ascendant and Venus, spurs Irons to free himself from his need to be famous. He does not mince his words and sometimes appreciates to shock.
His excessive sensitivity may be intensified by the opposition between the Sun and his Aries Moon, herself square Uranus. For those who do not take the time to understand Irons, his apparent behaviour may hurt many people.
The Romanticism of Neptune and of Venus
In the emotional area, however, his assets seem to outnumber his flaws. Venus is strong in Leo and appeased by soft aspects, except for the square with Mars already mentioned. Venus trine the Moon in Aries indicates that Irons is warm-hearted, has consistent interests, and reacts immediately. Since Venus also conjuncts Pluto, feelings may be deep and exacting.
As far as his home is concerned, the comedian prefers to remain quite vague, under the influence of a powerful Neptune conjunct the Imum Coeli. What we know is that he married an Irish woman in 1978 and that they have two children. It is probable that the sextile linking these two dominant planets (Venus and Neptune) produces a sweet and romantic ambiance for the couple.
Auspicious Transits by Jupiter in the Offing
In the spring of 2019, Irons is impacted by Jupiter's return. This transit is a rather good omen, because Jupiter is in domicile in this sign and relatively well-aspected.
Since Jupiter entered Sagittarius in Novembre 2018, the Moon, the Midheaven, the Ascendant, as well as Venus, have been enjoying the benevolence of Jupiter.
Until the end of 2019, Irons will be blessed with a second transit of Jupiter after his retrograde motion. However, this will technically concern only natal Jupiter in the 5th House (creativity and entertainment) because the orb is too wide.
Later on, in 2020, Irons can expect a constructive phase with the great conjunction of Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto in Capricorn, which will be fairly auspicious for the natal Sun in the 3rd House (exchanges, communications) and will not affect the major points of the chart.
