Libra and 7th House Highlighted
Keep in mind that, from now on, he must be addressed as Didier Deschamps... Élysées. All pun aside, the head coach of the French National Football Team, also known as Les Bleus, definitively gained worldwide fame on 15 July 2018 when he became one of the few sportsmen who won the World Cup twice, the first time as a football player, and then recently, as a coach.
It must be admitted that this man born with the Sun in Libra has always promoted collective values instead of those connected to ego issues. In this regard, he is a perfect model of the person who has deeply integrated the qualities of his Sun sign.
In the natal chart, one can note that all the planets, except Saturn, are in the Western hemisphere. This means that Deschamps feels lonely when he is left to his own devices and that he cherishes the principle of sharing.
As a child, he was shy and reserved, which is not surprising given this planet repartition and the importance of Virgo, as we shall see further down. The strongest House is very clearly the 7th House, in analogy with Libra. As a result, Deschamps needs partners in order to express himself. The world of sports seems an ideal playing field, since Mars, the planet of combativeness and effort, is on the cusp of the 7th House.
Even when he was the captain of the team which won the first star at the 1998 Mundial, Deschamps came across like the man who does the job and never hesitates to make sacrifices. An implacable midfield, as a player, he already was able to catch all the balls and to impose himself, even to the detriment of his own desires.
Virgo's Strategy and Mars' Energy
Another statement must be made. In Deschamps' natal chart, Virgo is actually stronger than Libra. This strategist sign shelters the above-mentioned Mars as well as a powerful duet of slow-moving planets, namely Jupiter and Pluto, well-linked to another duet, namely Venus and Neptune in Scorpio. This is what could be referred to as a winning combination, for beneath all its discretion, its modesty and its sense of organisation lies a will of iron.
Deschamps does everything required to gain power. He succeeded particularly well at the Mundial. He first got rid of players who were unsuitable for the group, even though it meant taking – calculated – risks.
Indeed, the Jupiter-Pluto association in Virgo may prove very difficult. The method does not matter, provided results are satisfactory.
Rectitude and Perspicacity
However, let us not overlook the fact that Deschamps sticks to one criterion. He is very punctilious about order and morality. Incidentally, there has never been subjected to the slightest rumour or scandal, whether in his professional or private life. Yet, temptations kept on coming his way.
Fortunately, the sextile connecting the two groups of natal planets (Jupiter-Pluto in Virgo and Venus-Neptune in Scorpio) provides common sense and perspicacity. Thus, Neptune, ruler of the Ascendant, in good aspect with Venus, depicts a sensitive person who does not wear his heart on his sleeve. Durant the competition a few gestures of affection towards his players have astonished the onlookers.
Predominant Jupiter and Good Luck
To complete this mini portrait, it is necessary to underline the central role of Jupiter, who amplifies every opportunity. Has Michel Platini not said that Deschamps was born under a lucky star?
In addition, it must be recalled that Deschamps is a model of balance. In his natal chart, the four elements – Air, Earth, Fire, Water – are almost equally represented, which is quite rare. As rare as winning the football World Cup as a player and as a team manager, finally!

Deschamps' Transits Between Entre 2016 and 2018
Looking at the transits, it is interesting to get back to July 2016, a period when Deschamps led the French team to the final of the Euro football championship but was knocked out. In those days, Neptune was nearing his Ascendant (1° of orb), and Jupiter was in the 7th House.
The two slow-moving planets probably brought about high expectations, but transiting Uranus on natal Saturn and above all opposite the natal Sun, prevented Deschamps to win the ultimate victory, by a narrow margin.
Throughout 2017, transiting Saturn on the natal MC (the career) did not make Deschamps' task easy. In spite of that, blending slow and patient reconstruction with extreme pruning (typically Saturnian), bore fruits.
Deschamps harvested them in 2018. Uranus eventually left this hot spot while Jupiter in Scorpio supports the natal planets in Virgo. Moreover, there is no challenging transit.
Over the next few months, it is likely that Deschamps will bask in his glory. Nevertheless, he will have to beware of the short transit of Uranus returning on natal Saturn in early 2019.
Jupiter transiting Deschamps' MC confirms his huge celebrity, notwithstanding some personal disappointments (Neptune squaring the natal Ascendant). On the whole, he will still experience nice prospects in the forthcoming period.
