James ("Jim") Emanuel Fuchs (born 6 December 1927 in Chicago, Illinois) was an American athlete who mainly competed in the shot put. He competed for the United States atthe 1948 Summer Olympics held in London, Great Britain, where he won the bronze medal in the men's shot put event. He repeated this with his second bronze medal in the shot put at the 1952 Summer Olympics, held in Helsinki, Finland. For a little more than two years, Fuchs was the best shot putter in the world. During that span, he won 88 consecutive meets and set four world records. His peak period fell between Olympics.
